Downlight (AA)
Available in 250-to-400-watt
PSMH and 100-to-400-watt
HPS and MH, this highly
efficient, versatile fixture has
been installed in
supermarkets, auditoriums,
lobbies, restaurants, pool
areas, retail stores, auto-
dealer showrooms and
gymnasiums. A 24-inch
square recessed downlight
(SA Series), of anodized
aluminum, also is available
for convenient installation
directly into 2x2 ceilings.
60-degree Forward Throw
Indirect Light
(ACU, LACU and WACU)
The ACU Series optical
system uses a compact
forward-throw reflector that
provides exceptional results
in wall-mounted, indirect
lighting systems. The main
beam is 60°+ from vertical,
nadir illumination is very low
and there is virtually no wall
brightness. Lamp wattages:
150-to-400-watt PSMH and
50-to-1000-watt MH. The
320- and 400-watt PSMH
and 400-watt MH use an
ED28 reduced-envelope
lamp. The 1000-watt MH
uses a BT37 reduced-
envelope lamp.
Parking Structure Lights
The Parking Structure
Reflector (QV) uses a
quadrate optical system with
a vertical lamp. The Parking
Structure Refractor (F/SCL)
has an enclosed
polycarbonate lens mounted
to a die-cast aluminum
ballast housing. Our 12-inch
Prismatic (SP) and Square
(SE7) Parking Deck fixtures
are designed to fulfill many
unique applications. (Also

Exit Signs
Our exit signs employ light-
emitting diode (LED)
technology, which saves
energy when compared with
incandescent and fluorescent
source signs. Savings
increase when labor costs
are added in, as LED signs
are maintenance-free for
more than 25 years.
Available in plastic, steel and
edge-lit.
Emergency Lighting
Two 6-volt, 5-watt MR16
lamps are mounted on a
black or white thermoplastic
housing. A sealed,
maintenance-free lead
calcium battery operates
both lamps for 90 minutes
minimum after a power
outage. Features include
low-voltage disconnect,
AC lockout and automatic
brownout protection.
Emergency/Exit
Combination Unit
The sealed lead calcium
battery is maintained by a
constant-current, solid-state
charging unit. Snap-together
construction allows for quick
installation with or without
a mounting canopy.

Housing
The seamless, die-cast housing is
standard with our DeltaGuard
®
finish
featuring an E-coat epoxy primer and
white ultra-durable powder topcoat.
Consult factory for availability of other
finish colors.
Optics
Precision specular reflector provides 78
percent efficiency and cutoff distribution
for maximum light levels. Lens enclosed
in a hinged frame. On 12-inch and 16-
inch square housings, a Crystal #73,
tempered-glass lens is standard. 22-
inch square fixtures are supplied with an
acrylic drop prismatic lens, 2-1/4
inches (57 mm) deep.
Ballast
All fixtures are standard with a high-
power-factor ballast. The 35-watt HPS
and 26-watt fluorescent fixtures are
standard with a 120-volt ballast. The
50-to-100-watt PSMH fixtures are
standard with a dual-volt ballast
(120/277V). In the US, all other fixtures
are standard with a quad-volt ballast
(120/208/240/277V). In Canada 320
and 400-watt PSMH, 70-to-400-watt
MH and 70-to-400-watt HPS fixtures
are supplied with a tri-volt ballast
(120/277/347V), 50-watt PSMH fixtures
are supplied with a dual-volt ballast
(120V/277V). See order information

12" housing accommodates 26-watt
quad-tube compact fluorescent,
medium-base 150W PSMH, 50, 70,
100 or 175W MH and 35, 50, 70, 100 or
150W HPS lamps. 16" housing
accommodates mogul-base 320, or
400W PSMH, 175, 250 or 400W MH
and 250 or 400W HPS lamps. 22"
housing available with mogul-base 250
or 400W MH or HPS lamp.
Mounting
For Direct Mount the housing is
supplied with four 0.188-inch clearance
holes for #8 screws. Four #8 x 1-inch
sheet metal screws and sealing washers
are provided for a watertight seal. When
surface or feed-through wiring is
required, an SB-16 Surface Box
accessory is available. For installation
on a combustible or insulated surface
(such as wood or drywall), 1-inch
(25 mm) spacers or an SB-16 Surface
Box is required for 150-watt and above
12-inch fixtures and 320-watt and above
16-inch fixtures. The Quick Mount
option is also available (described on
page 170).
Wiring
Two 1/2-inch flush, threaded openings
with socket-drive closure plugs are
provided for one or two 1/2-inch
conduits. 150°C minimum supply wire
is required.
Labels
Direct Mount: UL Listed in the US and
Canada for wet locations. Enclosure
classified IP54 (22") and IP65 (12" &
16") per IEC 529 and IEC 598. Not UL
Listed for feed-through wiring unless
SB-16 Surface Box accessory is used.

Housing

Trim Frame
The steel trim frame is supplied with an

durable powder finish. The trim attaches
directly to the fixture lens frame with four
supplied flat-head stainless-steel
fasteners. It measures 1-5/8 inches
(41 mm) wide.
Mounting
Four sturdy steel "L" brackets are
provided to attach the housing to the
ceiling material. These brackets are
adjustable up to 1-3/8 inches (35 mm)
for the thickness of the mounting surface.
Four additional steel "L" brackets are
provided to secure the fixture from below
the ceiling surface.
Wiring
Two 1/2-inch flush, threaded openings
with socket-drive closure plugs are
provided for one or two 1/2-inch
conduits. 150°C minimum supply wire is
required.
Insulation Detector
A UL Listed insulation detector/thermal
protector deactivates the fixture if it is
inadvertently covered with insulation or
becomes excessively hot.

Optics
Brightened, anodized aluminum
reflectors provide highly efficient
distribution while controlling glare. The
16" Recessed Downlight (AA Series) is
enclosed with a clear, tempered glass
lens, easily removable for cleaning
or relamping. Its distribution is
field-adjustable by moving the lamp
socket—no special tools required.
The 24" Square Recessed Downlight
(SA Series) incorporates a fixed lamp
position in its quadrate anodized open
aluminum reflector.
Ballast
All fixtures are standard with a 120V
high power factor ballast. Optional
ballast are 208V, 240V, 277V and 347V
CWA. The die-cast ballast housing is
standard with our exclusive DeltaGuard
finish, featuring an E-coat epoxy primer
and white ultra-durable powder topcoat.
The ballast housing is supplied with a
spring captive hook to suspend the
majority of the fixture’s weight from the
ceiling structure.
Lamps
The AA Series accommodates mogul
base 250, 320 or 400W PSMH, 100,
175, 250 or 400W MH; and 100, 150,
250 or 400W HPS lamps. The SA Series
accommodates open-rated 250, 320, or
400W PSMH lamps. (All PSMH and
MH fixtures are standard with coated
lamp.)
Mounting
The AA Series is suitable for use in
accessible ceilings up to 1" (25 mm)
thick. The lightweight reflector assembly
is supplied with four steel “L" brackets
to mount it to the ceiling surface. The
SA Series is designed for simple lay-in
onto 2'x2' grid ceiling applications.
Both AA and SA Series fixtures are
supplied with spring captive hook to
suspend the majority of fixture weight.
Ballast assembly is prewired to the
reflector assembly with 6 feet (1.8 m)
of 3/8" flexible metallic raceway
connection.
Insulation Detector/
Thermal Protector
A UL Listed insulation detector/thermal

diameter threaded mounting studs with

Optics
The Type V optical system uses a
vertically positioned medium base lamp,
and provides great uniformities. A clear,
tempered glass lens is secured in a
hinged, gasketed frame. The optical
chamber is sealed to reduce dirt and
insect contamination.
Ballast
All fixtures are standard with a high
power factor ballast. 50–100W MH
and 50W HPS fixtures are standard
with a Dual-volt ballast (120/277V).
In the U.S. all other wattages are
standard with a Quad-volt ballast
(120/208/240/277V). In Canada
70–175W MH and 70–150W HPS
fixtures are supplied with a Tri-volt
ballast (120/277/347V), 50W fixtures
are supplied with a Dual-volt ballast

Lamps
The 16" housing accommodates
medium base 150-watt PSMH, 50-, 70-,
100- or 175-watt MH, 50-, 70-, 100- or
150-watt HPS lamps.
Wiring
Two 1/2" flush, threaded openings with
socket drive closure plugs are provided
for one or two 1/2" conduits. 150°C
minimum supply wire is required.
Mountings
Direct Mount: Housing is supplied
with four 0.188" clearance holes for #8
screws. Four #8 x 1" sheet metal screws
and sealing washers are provided for a
watertight seal. When surface or feed-
thru wiring is required, SB-16 Surface
Box accessory is available.
Quick Mount: A steel tray mounts
directly to the ceiling or to a 4" octagon
or square recessed junction box. Three
conduit knockouts are provided on each
of the long sides of the tray: (2) for 1/2"
and (1) for 3/4". A 2" conduit opening is
also provided in the center of the tray. A
hinge bracket attached to the fixture
simply hooks into a slot in the tray,
supporting the fixture while the
electrical connection is made. The
fixture then swings up into place; a
latch on the housing attaches it to the
tray. Two #8 screws are provided to
secure the fixture.

The optics deliver a 65° main beam, with sharp cutoff to reduce glare for drivers, yet

UL Listed in the US and Canada for damp locations. For direct mount, 150°C

Quick Mount
For use with CL7, QV7, SE7 and SP7
fixtures. A steel tray in black epoxy
e-coat mounts directly to the ceiling or
to a 4-inch octagon or square recessed
junction box. Three conduit knockouts
are provided on each of the long sides
of the tray: (2) for 1/2-inch and (1) for
3/4-inch. A 2-inch conduit opening is
provided in the center of the tray. A
hinge bracket attached to the fixture
simply hooks into a slot in the tray,
supporting the fixture while the
electrical connection is made. The
fixture then swings up into place; a
latch on the housing attaches it to the
tray. Two #8 screws are provided to
secure the fixture. For 12-inch square
housings, 5.8"W x 10.2"L x 1.6"D (146
x 259 x 40 mm); For 16-inch square
housings, 58"W x13.7"L x 1.6"D (146 x
347 x 40 mm). UL Listed in the US and

For use with F/SCL Series. Use for
either surface wiring or pendant mount
from rigid conduit. A removable steel
electrical box can be installed prior to
mounting the fixture, using 3/4-inch
conduit for pendant mounting (shown)

surface wiring.

Exit Signs
Our exit line offers a choice of
plastic, steel or edge-lit signs.
All utilize energy saving light
emitting diode (LED)
technology. In addition to low
energy consumption, LED exit
signs provide savings in labor
costs and the light source is
maintenance-free for 25 years.
The thermoplastic sign has
been redesigned. Features
include a smaller profile,
premium Ni-Cad battery,
replaceable chevrons and more
even illumination.
For applications that require a
more rugged sign, we offer a
low-cost steel model with a
white powder coat finish.
For planning and installation
flexibility, Universal plastic exit
signs are standard and
universal steel is available. At
the job site, the sign can be
installed as either single or
double face.
Our architectural edge-lit series
provides the ultimate in a clean,
low-profile, attractive exit sign.
All signs are tested and
certified to the current revision
of standard UL924 and are UL
Listed. They comply with the
NFPA Life Safety Code and
meet NEC and OSHA
illumination standards.
Emergency Lights

Light Source
Sign face is indirectly illuminated with
high brightness Light Emitting Diodes
(LEDs). The improved design provides
brighter and more even illumination
across the face.
Electrical Ratings
All signs are 120/277 VAC dual rated.
The AC only versions of both red and
green consume 1.0 watts or less. The
Battery Backup versions of both red and
green consume 1.9 watts or less.
Construction
The redesigned slim, soft cornered
housing and canopy, available in white
or black, is molded of UL94VO
thermoplastic.
Face
These universal signs are available with
red or green 6" letters and can be used
as a single or double face sign.
Battery
(AC with Battery Backup)
A sealed, maintenance-free nickel
cadmium battery located inside the
housing provides a minimum of 90
minutes of emergency power. It
operates within a range of 20°F to 95°F
(-7°C–35°C). It has an expected 10 year
life. A battery test switch and a charge
monitor indicator are located at the
bottom of the housing.
Electronics
(AC with Battery Backup)
The battery is maintained by a constant
current, solid state charging unit with
surge protection. An AC lockout
prevents battery discharge when the
fixture is installed to a non-energized
circuit. Automatic brownout protection
switches the sign to battery operation
when the AC voltage drops below 80%
of nominal. All electronics are located
inside the housing.
Tools Free Installation
Unlike other models on the market, this
exit has a patented design which allows
the mounting of both the canopy and
exit to be truly tools free. First a
mounting plate is placed over the open
junction box. Next the electrical
connections are made from the junction
box within the canopy via wire nuts.
After making the electrical connections,
attach exit to canopy then simply snap
canopy to the mounting plate. There is
no need to open the exit sign during
installation. Easily removed knockouts
in the rear of housing allow back/wall
mounting to a standard 4" octagonal
recessed junction box. The housing can
be wall mounted without the use of a
mounting canopy. Side or top mounts
require the included mounting canopy.
Chevron directional indicators pop out
from the front face of the exit. If the
wrong chevron is removed, it can be
snapped back into place.
Labels
All signs are UL Listed for use in the
U.S. All comply with the NFPA Life
Safety Code, NEC and OSHA
illumination standards and 1998 UL924
requirements.

DeltaGuard(r) finish, featuring an E-coat
epoxy primer and a bronze, ultra-
durable powder topcoat. A neoprene
gasket on the back of the housing
provides a watertight mounting seal.
Reflector Systems
The reflector projects light out and away
from the fixture. An excellent choice for
lighting small parking or public areas
next to buildings. Silver shroud is
standard. A specially formulated acrylic
lens withstands continuous exposure to
high heat and ultraviolet light.
Lamps
A medium based lamp is included in
70-watt metal halide, 70-watt HPS or
42-watt triple-tube compact fluorescent.
A 20-watt, DC based incandescent lamp
is included for emergency lighting in the
HID products..
Ballasts
A dual-volt (120/277V) normal-power-
factor ballast is standard for metal
halide fixtures. A 120-volt normal-
power-factor ballast is standard on HPS
fixtures. The fluorescent fixture is
standard with an electronic Universal
ballast 120- through 277-volt.
Emergency Operation
Upon loss of power, the low-voltage
lamp in the HID models, or the main
lamp in the fluorescent models, will
automatically activate, powered from a
12-volt central battery system, such as
the Ruud EMHC12 Series High Capacity
Emergency units. The fluorescent model
will illuminate the standard compact
fluorescent lamp and will provide 650
initial lumens.
Installation
Installation is simplified on the E Series
by a fixture assembly bar supplied to
mount the fixture over a recessed
junction box. Use our ESB-7 Surface
Mounting Box accessory where surface
wiring is required.
