The M5 is a high performance spindle drive with 100% back-to-line regeneration.
We offer three types of machine tool specific spindle motors. Single winding spindle motors generate rated power at 1,500 RPM. Dual winding motors generate rated power at 400~500 RPM. Built-in spindle motors offer the machine tool designer the opportunity to design high performance, compact machines by "motorizing" the spindle itself.
Drives are available with either the traditional analog interface or the Mechatrolink interface offered by Yaskawa.

M5 Spindle Drive
The VS-626M5 is a highly reliable AC vector controlled inverter drive designed for controlling high speed, compact AC motors used in machine tool spindle drive applications. Vector controlled technology through the use of a digital signal processor and proprietary algorithms for speed, torque, and current control allows for minimum speed and torque variations during cutting. This impacts accuracy and surface finish of precision parts. 100% back-to-line power regeneration provides quick spindle deceleration times not limited by the ohmic value of externally mounted regeneration resistors. This allows for faster tool changes and increased machine productivity.

Single Wound Motor
Maximize the performance of your machine with a Yaskawa single winding spindle motor. These motors are high speed, low vibration motors that are specifically designed for machine tools. Motors are designed to allow cooling air to enter the motor from the load machine side and exit from the opposite side, avoiding exposure of the workpiece to the heated exhaust and the possibility of the heated air.
The motor has been further reduced in size and weight due to optimum electromagnetic design and improved cooling structure. Rapid response as well as quick servo response are achieved at low inertia. It is highly reliable because the cooling capability is maintained even in adverse conditions.

Dual Winding Motor
Eliminate machine gearboxes by generating full rated torque at low speeds. Winding selection motors cover a broader constant output range and offer a constant output ratio of 12:1 or better without using a speed change gearbox. Yaskawa winding selection motors utilize a compact magnetic contactor specialized for motor winding change.
